What an exciting week it has been! Learners were getting geared up for the new term and I believe that they got a head start of the rest which starts on the 20th July. A group of about 34 brave learners (grade 4 – 7) gave up their last week of their holiday to attend the Sifunda Kunye Winter School Programme at Good Shepherd Primary School from 13th – 17 July 2015. The learners were from St Mary’s, Ntaba Maria and Good Shepherd Primary School. The programme started at 08:00 and ended at 12:00 for the learners. We have spent 4 hours a day from Monday – Wednesday on Cami Maths and Cami English. This time around we decided to also include a Maths exam to evaluate the impact that Cami Maths has on the learners which was written on Thursday, 16 July 2015 at St Andrew College and on Friday they have written essays. The Topics for the Essays were: My dreams for the future, All about me and my family, When I grow up I would like to be, This is what I love about my school… This is what I would like to change, If I were the president, this is what I would do to make my country a better place to be. A special thanks to Mr Barnard who organized the whole programme and the 4 St’ Chad volunteers (Durham, England), Aphelele from Ntsika High (Grahamstown) and our Caretaker Mr Sifiso (GSS) and the learners for showing such eagerness to learn. Last, but not least Sifunda Kunye for making all of this possible. Without all of you this programme would not have been a success.
